CTP Mac #1: Pictures of Signatures

In this week’s episode of “Computer Tip Weekly”, we’ll discuss a trick that allows us to take pictures of signatures using the iSight Camera, and paste them into documents using the Preview app.

How to: Open Preview, go to the toolbar on the top of the screen, then click Preview, then Preferences. Go to the Signatures tab, and click the plus button. Sign your name with a black pen on a piece of paper, and hold it up to your camera. Click Accept. If you would like to save the signature, click the check next to “Save this signature after Preview quits”. Now open an image or PDF or other document you would like to sign. Open the edit toolbar and click on the Signature icon. Hope this helps!

In this week’s episode of “Computer Tip Weekly”, we’ll discuss a keyboard command shortcut on how to easily and quickly switch displays on Windows computers. Ways to do this:

  • Type “Windows key” and “p” at the same time.
  • Go to the Windows menu, type “Run”, and type “DisplaySwitch.exe“.

You can contact me with a suggestion or tip of your own for the show by clicking here. Thanks for listening everyone, see you back here next Sunday!

Daily App Kid Show: My New Podcast

Hey everyone,

As you may know, I’m really into podcasting, so I decided to create on myself called “Daily App Kid Show”. Everyday, I’ll publish an episode under 3 minutes talking and reviewing a different iOS app. Here was yesterday’s epsiode:

You can subscribe via RSS and iTunes or by visiting the podcast’s website.

Ken Jennings on His Last Episode of “Jeopardy!”

If you read my last post, you’d know I’m sort of crazy for “Jeopardy!” right now, so I thought I’d share a video of Ken Jennings on his last episode. Ken Jennings won 74 episodes on Jeopardy, and won over $2,000,000.

Today’s “Jeopardy!” Episode Thoughts

I was just watching “Jeopardy!“, and I am so sad to see Jerry Slowik go. He was a great contestant. If only the challenger that defeated him hadn’t won the show.

Zero to Hero: 30 Days to a Better Blog

The Daily Post at www.wordpress.com published a daily task today that says to introduce yourself. Even though you most likely already know me, I thought I might as well do it for practice.

Hi, my name is Riley. I’m 11 years old, and in 6th grade. I live in Ballston Spa, NY, which is located just a couple miles from Saratoga Springs, NY. I like blogging because I get to digitally keep track of my life and other people can also read it. I like writing about technology news stories, as you can see. I also like to write random writing prompts, like this one. If I blog successfully this year in 2013, I would have hoped to accomplished many new readers, and to improve my writing.

How was that? Comment below your opinion.

Starting New

Hi everyone! As a New Year’s Resolution this year, I wanted to make my blog better. I had always used Blogger to create my blog, but now, as I become more advanced with technology, I’d like to use a new website. WordPress has now come into play. WordPress has more templates that make me look more like a professional, but also the reader enjoys it because they have a better experience reading my blog. Don’t worry, if you have my blog saved in your “Favorites” or “Favorite Places”, you can still go to my blog, but it will just redirect (go to instead) to this new blog. Hope you all are happy about this.

Congratulations to everyone who got on this list! I am the principal’s list, which means my average grade for all subjects is about 95%.

Things I Do Not Like About Middle

Now, I'm currently at my sister's volleyball practic at the Malta Community Center. I am on the computer's in the library right now. I decided that I would write on my blog a list of things I do not like about middle school so far this school year.

Things I Do NOT Like About The Middle School:
  1. The lockers are about half a foot wide, so I can barely get through between periods everyday.
  2. The annocements are on second block, not first, so when I don't know what rotation day it is, it really is not handy when they say second block into the day.
  3. Many kids swear as if it is the word "the", and it bothers me because some of the kids that were in my class last year do that, too. Last year if they said a bad word, they would be sent down to the principal office and have a harsh punishment. Now, the teachers do not even care. At lunch, some random kid sat down next to me and started swearing. I asked to one of the "deans" (punishment deciders) if I could move my seat because the kid next to me was swearing, and she didn't even care to ask which kid it was.
  4. The hallways are too small, and having all 250 6th graders walking in the hall at the same time between blocks just doesn't make sense to me. Whoever designed the design of the school should of thought how many students would be in the hall at one time.
  5. And on top of all of that, we only have 4 minutes to get to each class. With the small halls and lockers, I can barely make it to each class (as many other students do, too).
  6. All of the clocks in the building are different times and are not the same as when the bell rings.
There are a lot more, but I have to go now, so if I thinks of more ideas later on and have time and a computer to update this post, I will.

Bye!
